2018 Proves To Be a Busy Year for the Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers came upon the music scene in 2012 and were originally consisted of Alex Pall and Rhett Bixler. Their new manager, Adam Alpert, re-formed the group later that year and replaced Bixler with Andrew Taggert. They were labeled as an EDM( Electronic Dance Music ) DJ duo and since have released numerous singles and remixes. 2017 saw the release of their debut album entitled Memories… Do Not Open. They also serve as record producers on numerous projects. The Chainsmoker’s first taste of fame was on both the US and UK charts with their hits “#Selfie” and “Roses”. Their biggest single to date is 2016’s “Closer” featuring Halsey. They presenlty record for Disrupter, which is owned by Sony Entertainment.

The Chainsmokers began 2018 by revamping their logo and releasing their production single “Sick Boys” which is the featured song from their second studio album. They described their first release of 2018 as “a song about self-identity in today’s world and standing tall in the face of what you can and can’t control.” Their next release was in February entitled “You Owe Me” and was accompanied by a dark video that has garnered more than 34,000,000 views on Youtube. March saw the release of “Everybody Hates Me” which only has a lyric video but still has gained over 9 million views on Youtube. Their latest release as of April, 2018 was “Somebody” which is a master class in pithced-up-vocal samples and modular synthesizers. Some of the vocals used were previously recorded for another one of their songs. With the help of computer music editing programs, the vocals, synth sounds, percussion and piano solo all come together to create a unique Electronic Dance sound.
